What is Lent? Why read the Church Fathers? What will we read?

What is Lent?

Lent is the 40 day period starting with Ash Wednesday (tomorrow) all the way to the remembrance of the crucifixion (on Good Friday) and resurrection (Easter) of our Lord. Traditionally it is a period of fasting, focusing on repentance as a way of preparation for the future feast of kingdom come. Read more here.

Why read the Church Fathers?

Why not? Because we can learn from them. Because we are not the first generation to wrestle with the meaning of the death and life of Christ. Because reading something like this opens new worlds. Because of personal interest. Whatever the reason, please join me on the journey: ReadChurchFathersForLent.wordpress.com

What will we read?

This is the list of readings. If you subscribe to this blog (see button in the right column) or like the facebook page you will receive the readings every day (at 6 AM Central European Time.) Thanks for signing up and thanks for sharing!
